The 28th Annual Horseshoe Riverbend Festival will be September 9, 10 &
11, 2010. The fun filled weekend is a tradition in Clifton and has
become one of the largest music festivals in the area. Proceeds from
the festival are used to help the community in various projects. The
event is organized by the Clifton Rotary Club and is their major
fundraiser. The club's past projects include new playground equipment,
fund raising for the Clifton Senior Citizens Center, and funding the
Eric Gobbell Memorial Scholarship each year.
This year's festival promises to be the most exciting
yet. The talent this year will include: Kentucky Headhunters, Whitney
Duncan, 7-Bridges Band (an Eagles Tribute Band) and many more. As
always the street will be lined with food, drinks, and confections of
all kinds. For the shopping enthusiast; the vendors list includes
handmade pottery, woodworks, jewelry, t-shirts, toys, and so much more.
Youth night will be Thursday, September 9th and
features the bracelet night special for the carnival rides. The youth
night activities are held in the area near the Historic Presbyterian
Church on Main Street. The night also features a family friendly
setting with no alcohol sales.
Friday night opening will be at 4:30PM with music to
follow and continue until 1:00AM. Performing at 5:00PM will be Freebyrd,
a Lynrd Skynrd Tribute band. Headlining Friday night at 7:00PM will be
the Kentucky Headhunters. They are a local favorite returning for an
encore performance. This American country rock group is best known for
hits "Dumas Walkers," Walk Softly on this Heart," and "Oh Lonesome Me."
Saturday night is going to make history. Whitney
Duncan will be taking stage to show everyone how "Skinny Dippin" sounds
live! As a past performer on Nashville Star, she was mentored by Jewel
on this song and it became a fast hit. Her hectic schedule has her
traveling the country and world; earlier this year she toured in Iraq
performing for the troops and plans to return later this year. She
loves Clifton and is looking forward to performing at the festival.
The festival wouldn't be complete without the
fabulous pyrotechnic show! Of all the talk about the festival, it is a
constant in any conversation: the fireworks! The show lasts for over 20
minutes and has wowed the audience for years. There's just nothing like
watching a fireworks show over the Tennessee River.
